A Different View Of God

Nothing is more important than knowing the Lord. Nothing is more enjoyable than knowing Him. Nothing is more relevant than knowing Him. Nothing is more useful than knowing Him. Nothing is more valuable than knowing Him. There is no replacement for knowing Him. There is nothing that can compare with knowing Him.

Jeremiah 9:24: But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD.

We MUST know God.

John 17:3: And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

The most precious things the Lord gives us when we receive Jesus are a different view of Him and an increased knowledge of Him. He does give us a different view of everything else, but especially of Himself.

Unbelievers do not see God clearly because they look at Him through defiled minds and consciences. If they look at Him at all they look at Him through a muddy lens. I recall going into a house of mirrors when I was a child. The distorted images seen in those mirrors were nothing when compared with the distorted images unbelievers have of God.

Titus 1:15: Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.

Psalms 18:26: With the pure thou wilt shew thyself pure; and with the froward thou wilt shew thyself froward.

Froward means perverse or foolish. To unbelievers God is perverse or foolish.

2 Samuel 22:26-27: With the merciful thou wilt shew thyself merciful, and with the upright man thou wilt shew thyself upright. With the pure thou wilt shew thyself pure; and with the froward thou wilt shew thyself unsavoury.

To unbelievers God is undesirable and tastes bad.

2 Corinthians 2:16: To the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things?

To unbelievers Christians stink.

1 Peter 2:7-8: Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner, And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.

To unbelievers Jesus is not precious and they believe that He prevents what they see as progress.

1 Corinthians 15:34: Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.

Galatians 4:8: Howbeit then, when ye knew not God, ye did service unto them which by nature are no gods.

When they don*t know Him they serve other gods.

2 Thessalonians 1:8: In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:

The final result of not knowing God is condemnation.

Romans 1:21-25: Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

Not knowing God is a choice.
